# Assignary and Stack Officials

Assignary is where a club, league or association assigns its referees and judges, records the work and pays for it. A league or an association is a club here too. Assignary and Stack Officials both assign officials to games and pay them [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1). Each fact here about Stack Officials names its source, listed with the day it was read.

## Which is better, Assignary or Stack Officials?

It depends on where your schedule lives and who your officials are. Stack Officials suits an AYSO region [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7) or a league whose schedule is in Sports Connect. It syncs that schedule [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1), reads U.S. Soccer Learning Center certifications [\[2\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-2), has a phone app [\[8\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-8) [\[9\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-9) and can pay referees who are minors [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7). Assignary suits a club, league, association or circuit for a judged sport, if its officials are all 18 or older. Offers go by email. Assigning is free. Each seat your club pays through Assignary has a price. Assignary opens in January 2027.

## What are Stack Officials and Assignary?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials is Stack Sports’ product for officials [\[3\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-3): “Everything you need to schedule, manage, and pay officials, all in one place” [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1). Stack Sports calls it “your complete officials toolbox to scheduling, managing, and paying officials” [\[3\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-3). Its page for leagues and tournaments is written for “sports clubs, leagues, and events”, to assign officials “for any sport” [\[4\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-4). AYSO’s wiki says Stack Officials “will generally be available for Sections, Areas, and Regions to use” [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7).

The addresses gameofficials.net and www.officialsconnect.com both forward to stackofficials.com [\[10\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-10) [\[11\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-11).

**Assignary**

Assignary is where a club, league or association assigns its referees and judges, records the work and pays for it. You offer each game only to people who are free, close enough and certified. They say yes from their phone. After the weekend, you mark who didn’t show. Then your club pays the rest of the crew through Stripe, to the cent. A referee crew on a match and a judging panel on a division are staffed the same way. A seat is one official’s place on a game’s crew.

Assignary is new. Your club would be among its first. It opens to new clubs in January 2027, and until then the way in is [the waitlist](https://assignary.com/waitlist).

## How do the games go in?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials syncs game schedules from Sports Connect [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1) [\[6\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-6), Stack Sports’ product for “websites, online registration, & sports management tools” [\[2\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-2).

**Assignary**

Assignary reads a league’s .csv or .xlsx workbook, one game a row and up to 200 games a file. Or you can write the games in. Before anything is saved, Assignary shows you every row. For a row it can’t read, it says what’s wrong. Assignary has no connection to Sports Connect.

## How does each one assign a game?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials lists “Create & Manage Assignments” among its features [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1). Officials “accept, decline, or confirm assignments directly from the app”, in the words of AYSO’s wiki [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7), and can “Filter self-assignment games by venue” [\[8\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-8).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, you send every first offer. You choose from the people Assignary shows as able to take the seat. Every offer has a time limit. If nobody answers before then, the offer runs out. If someone turns an offer down, or lets it run out, it goes to the next person who can take it. Assignary asks the nearest first, and the better record of turning up breaks a tie. The game’s history shows that Assignary moved it. You can turn off a game’s automatic re-offers. Then a seat that opens up on that game waits for you. An official can also say yes ahead of time. Then a seat that matches is theirs the moment it’s offered.

## How does each one handle availability, certifications and conflicts?

**Stack Officials**

On Stack Officials, officials mark their open times and block out the times they aren’t available, and their assignors “will see it across all connected leagues and tournaments” [\[5\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-5). Its page for assignors offers “real-time access to referee program certifications directly from the U.S. Soccer Learning Center” [\[2\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-2).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, an official says when they’re free and when they’re not. If an official says they’re out, their seats on games that haven’t started are offered to the next person who can take them. Your club records each clearance itself: what it is, who issued it, who entered it, who checked it and when it runs out. Assignary never contacts the issuing body. A seat goes only to somebody who passes every check. They’re free at that time and inside their own travel radius. They’re at the level the game asks for, and hold every clearance its sport requires when the game starts. They have no declared conflict, no other game in the way, and room under their own cap for the day. For each seat, you also see why everyone else is out.

## How does an offer reach an official?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials has an app for iPhone and Android, published by Stack Sports [\[8\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-8) [\[9\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-9). In it, officials “Stay updated with in-app notifications for assignments and reports” [\[8\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-8). Its page for officials says they can also work from its “mobile-friendly site”, where they “can handle reports, assignments, payments, and more” [\[5\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-5). Its page for assignors says it can “Automatically send updates to officials and parents when game details change or assignments are made”, send game-day reminders to officials, alert the assignor “if someone declines a game”, and send report reminders “right after the game” [\[2\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-2). AYSO’s wiki says officials can call or text their crew and their assignor from the app [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, an offer arrives by email. There’s no app to install. The offer’s link opens in the phone’s browser. Its email shows the seat, the game, its sport and level, when it starts and ends, the venue and its address, and the pay. The official answers Accept or Turn down in Assignary, which they can add to their home screen. Email is the only way an offer is sent. A private link puts an official’s games in the calendar they already use.

## How does each one keep the record of who worked?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials’ post-game report templates “include crew check-ins, game scoring, and incident reports”, and the assignor decides “what feedback to share with officials or assessors” and approves reports [\[2\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-2). From the app, officials “Verify your crew and submit game reports” [\[8\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-8).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, an assigner marks a seat a no-show or excused. Every accepted seat on a game that has started is paid. The seats left out are the ones marked a no-show or excused, and any whose official disputes the record. A disputed seat stays out of the weekend’s payment until an assigner answers. The assigner answers by changing the record or by leaving it as it is. Each seat keeps a history of who offered it, who took it and who marked it. An official can download a signed record of their own work in a club. It shows their offers and accepts, whether the work happened, and the clearances they hold. It has no pay figure in it. Whoever they hand it to can check it against a published key, without asking Assignary.

## How are officials paid?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials lists “Easily Handle Payroll” among its features [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1). Its page for leagues and tournaments says it can “Track, manage, & disburse payments online through our secure gateway” [\[4\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-4), and Stack Sports’ page for it says “Set your payment amounts and track financials all in one place” [\[12\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-12). Officials “Add your bank account to receive payments directly through Stack Officials” [\[5\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-5). AYSO’s wiki calls the pay features Crew Pay, optional and open to a region where its Section allows them, and says Stack Officials sends referee payments through Stripe [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7).

**Assignary**

With Assignary, a club’s treasurer pays for the weekend after it ends, at Stripe’s checkout, by card, bank transfer or bank debit. Each referee and judge is sent the whole fee on their seat. The club opens no payments account of its own. Officials give their bank details to Stripe, never to Assignary. Pay sent to an official lands in their Stripe balance first. It reaches their bank on Stripe’s usual schedule, at no cost to them. They can ask for it right away instead, which costs 1.75% of what is paid out, at least $1. They see the fee before they confirm. How soon the crew is paid depends on how the club paid. Before you pay, the Pay page shows each wait beside the button for that way to pay. The Pay page shows what the club paid each official in a calendar year. It counts each payment on the date the money moved.

## What about officials who are minors?

**Stack Officials**

AYSO’s wiki describes paying referees who are minors through Stack Officials: the initial set-up “must list an ADULT” [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, officials are 18 or older. Nobody holds an account, or is paid, without saying they are.

## What does each one cost, as each publishes it?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials publishes no price on its own pages, which offer “Get a Demo” and “Schedule a Demo” [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1).

**Assignary**

On Assignary, assigning is free. Each seat your club pays through Assignary has a price. Each seat paid for adds $3.50 plus 3.5% of that seat’s fee by card, or $3.50 plus 1.25% by bank. Its official is still sent the whole fee. Stripe can add a fee of its own on top:

- a wire adds Stripe’s $15 to what the club owes
- a bank debit through Stripe’s checkout adds Stripe’s $1.50 fee for linking the bank account, as a line of its own
- a debit through Stripe’s checkout that the bank refuses adds $5.50 to what the club owes

There’s no subscription, no setup fee and no contract. A seat with no fee is never part of a payment and never charged for. These prices hold from October 6, 2026. [Three ways to pay](https://assignary.com/pay#ways) says what each way adds and when each pays.

## How would I move from Stack Officials?

**Stack Officials**

AYSO’s wiki sends a region to its Section Director about using Stack Officials and its Crew Pay [\[7\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-7).

**Assignary**

Put the schedule in as a .csv or .xlsx workbook. [The switching page](https://assignary.com/switching#workbook) lists the columns it reads. Every seat on a game takes the game’s fee. If a sheet has no fee column, Assignary asks you for one fee before it’s saved. Bring the crew with the club’s join link, posted in the group chat you already run, or invite each person at their own email address. Each signs in with a code sent to their email, and states that they’re 18 or older. You can put one weekend’s games into Assignary, offer their seats and fill them, while the other system runs the rest. Assignary charges nothing for a weekend your club doesn’t pay for through it. The club enters each official’s clearances itself, since Assignary reads nothing from the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.

Assignary doesn’t replace a system an association requires.

## How would I move from Assignary to Stack Officials?

**Stack Officials**

Stack Officials’ pages describe schedules that sync from Sports Connect [\[1\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-1). To learn how it takes games kept anywhere else, ask in the demo its get-started page offers [\[13\]](https://assignary.com/compare/stack-officials#source-13).

**Assignary**

A club’s owner can download one zip of spreadsheets for a range of dates. It holds the games and every offer of a seat on them, and the roster and members as they are now. It also holds what the club was charged and what its officials were paid. Each person can download their own record as one file from their Account page.
