# The slate is a tool. You hold the pen.

assignary is software for staffing events. You are responsible for the Saturday you write, the offers you send, and the pay you settle.

Plain language for using assignary. Not a substitute for a lawyer. The slate does not take the pen from you, and these terms do not either.

## What this is

A system of record for assigners and officials. We provide the slate. We do not assign anyone. We accept a seat on somebody’s behalf in one case only: they told us in advance to accept exactly that kind of seat, and they can withdraw that instruction whenever they like.

## Your organization

The roster, the events, and the offers belong to the organization that put them on the slate. You decide who may look, who may offer, and who gets paid. If you add someone, they can see what that seat is allowed to see.

## Offers and pay

An offer is yours. You send it. An official accepts or declines it. The fees you wrote follow the crew that worked, because you recorded them that way. assignary does not decide who is certified, who is close enough, or who gets paid.

## Money

Money moves when a chapter settles or refunds, and when a chapter’s bank or card issuer reverses a payment it made — and at no other time. Stripe carries all of it: a chapter pays at Stripe’s checkout, and each official’s fee is transferred to a Stripe account the official sets up with Stripe. Stripe’s own agreement, which Stripe shows an official when they set up payouts, governs that account. What a chapter pays on top of its crew’s fees is on the [pricing page](https://assignary.com/pricing), and a seat that carries no fee is never charged for.

A seat the official has disputed is not settled until an assigner has answered the dispute, so nobody is paid over a disagreement nobody has read.

## Refunds

A chapter owner can refund a settlement from the console. A refund returns the whole charge to the card or account it came from; assignary does not refund part of one. It asks Stripe to take back from each official’s Stripe account the fee that settlement paid them, and it frees those seats to be settled again, so a weekend settled wrongly can be settled right.

If a chapter’s bank or card issuer reverses a payment after its crew was paid, we ask Stripe to take the crew’s fees for that payment back from their accounts. The games stay on the record as worked: a reversal is the chapter’s payment failing, not the weekend unhappening.

## If someone helps you assign

An assistant can look at the Saturday and propose a crew. It cannot send an offer, withdraw one, or pay anyone. Those stay in the signed-in app, with you.

## Use

Use assignary to staff real events for a real association, league, or tournament. Do not use it to impersonate officials or to send offers you have no right to send.

## Texts

We text you only about your own seats and your own pay, and only after you tick the box beside your number in your account. Clear it and save to stop, or remove the number. Changing the number stops the texts by itself, because the agreement is for the number you gave it for. Agreeing is not a condition of using assignary; email reaches you either way.
