An offer, one tap, and the whole fee.

What an offer looks like

An offer arrives by email. There is no app to install: the offer’s link opens in the phone’s browser. Its mail names the chapter that sent it and carries the seat, the game, its sport and level, when it starts and ends, the venue and its address, and the pay, and they answer Accept or Decline. A chapter is your club, league or association.

An offer carries a clock, and one nobody answers before it runs out lapses. Saying no is always open to them.

An official's own page

An official's own page on a phone: the week they keep, a day blocked out, a standing answer set, an open offer taken, and the calendar their games follow them to.

Demo club — fictional people and games.

1. Their week, said once: every Saturday.
2. They say which day they are out.
3. One press, and no offer reaches them then.
4. A standing answer says yes ahead of time.
5. Narrowed to one level, and saved.
6. One offer still waits for their answer.
7. One tap on Accept takes the seat.
8. A link puts every game on their calendar.

Saying they are out

An official who holds a seat in the day's match says on their phone that they are out for the day, and the seat goes back to their chapter.

Saying yes in advance

An official can say yes before anyone asks. When an offer arrives that matches, the seat is theirs the moment it is sent — not after it has sat out its clock.

• Only the levels they work
• Inside a radius they set
• Under a cap for the week
• Not on a weekday they keep for themselves
• Above a fee they name
• Between two dates, or switched off entirely

It changes nothing about who gets offered a seat — only how fast the answer comes back. Set none of the bounds and it answers for anything they were already eligible for; set one and it answers for less.

Setting up to be paid

An official presses Get paid on their own offers page, which opens Stripe’s own pages. Stripe collects the identity and bank details that takes, and Assignary never sees them: what it keeps is the identifier of their Stripe account and whether its setup is complete.

A seat whose official has not finished setting up payouts with Stripe is left out of the weekend’s payment until they do, and the rest of the crew is paid without it.

Setting up to be paid

An official who has just joined a chapter presses Get paid on their own page, gives their details to Stripe on Stripe's pages, and comes back to a page that says they are ready to be paid.

3. Back on their page: ready to be paid.

When pay reaches their bank

The chapter pays for the weekend, and each official’s fee is sent on a wait set by how the chapter paid. The console shows an official the day each seat’s pay is scheduled for, and what it waits on.

• A card its bank confirmed, Apple Pay or Google Pay: as the charge clears
• A US wire for the whole weekend: as it arrives
• A debit from an account Stripe reports as a business’s: 2 business days after it clears
• Any other bank transfer: 6 business days after it arrives
• Any other bank debit, which is the wait to plan on: 65 days after it clears
• A card its bank did not confirm: 120 days after it clears

Pay sent to an official lands in their Stripe balance and reaches their bank on Stripe’s usual schedule, at no cost to them. They can ask for it at once instead, which costs 1.75% of what is paid out, at least $1, and the fee is shown before they confirm.

Getting paid

An official's pay on their own page: what they earned by chapter and by month, each payout with its day, and an instant payout that shows its fee before they confirm it.

2. Every payout is listed, with its day.
3. An instant payout shows its fee first.
4. They confirm, and it is on its way.

Their calendar, and their record

A private link puts their games in the calendar they already use: which game, when and where, their seat and the chapter. It carries no fee.

An official can draw a signed record of their own work in a chapter: offers, accepts, whether the work happened, and the clearances they hold. No pay figure travels in it, and whoever they hand it to checks it against a published key without asking Assignary.

What stays private

An official who is out for a medical reason records it themselves. It is one word, with no injury, no diagnosis and nothing written about it, and the chapter is shown the dates and never the reason.

Whether a colleague’s game was worked, and what they said about it, is shown to the assigners and not to the rest of the crew. What is kept, and how an official takes their own record or deletes their account, is on the privacy page.

Who can hold an account

Officials are 18 or older: nobody holds an account, or is paid, without stating that they are.

If a chapter’s payment is taken back

If a chapter’s bank or card issuer takes a payment back, the chapter owes what that cost: the amount, and the fees Stripe charges for it. A chapter that owes anything settles no other weekend until it has paid.

Before they set up payouts, an official reads this beside the button that opens Stripe:

“If a chapter’s payment for a weekend you worked is taken back and the chapter has not paid for it within 30 days, the pay it sent you for that weekend can be taken back from your Stripe account, and it is paid back to you once the chapter has paid what it owes and that payment can no longer be taken back. Pay taken back after it has reached your bank can leave your Stripe balance below zero, and Stripe then takes that from the next pay sent to you or debits it from the bank account your payouts go to.”

A refund is the other way pay comes back. A chapter’s owner can refund a whole settlement, and the refund takes back the fee that settlement paid each official.
